Dormont stop at Dor-Stop Restaurant

We went on a nice little country drive today. Our primary target was a new lunch place. First we hit Target for some quick shopping.

Next we drove down to the South Hills, to Dormont. A friend of Janie’s had recommended the Dor-Stop Restaurant, after seeing it on a Food Network Show. There were some people waiting outside the smallish diner, so we put our names in for a ~15 minute wait. The sun was out, so it was nice.

Once we were seated, we looked over the menu – both breakfast and lunch items – and settled on hotcakes, or, um, pancakes. Janie got walnut and Tim got banana oatmeal. In this picture, Tim’s is in the foreground and Janie’s is in the background.

So much texture, you can see the bananas!

They were awesome! And priced well, below $8 apiece. We each got a side of sausage, but realized that we didn’t need it. The cakes were great – nice and moist and didn’t require syrup. Yumm! Neither of us finished the hotcakes, so we brought home leftovers.

After that, we drove to the nearby Galleria mall. It was nice, but small – only a little bit of walking to help lunch settle. Then we drove more in Mt Lebanon and Baldwin before heading home. It was nice to get out of the house, and we really enjoyed the stop at Dor-Stop!
